Most commercial soaps are not really even soap but they are man-made detergents, which are full of fillers and chemicals, like sodium lauryl sulfate, formaldehyde, phthalates, and parabens. All of these unnecessary compounds are not good for you and some of them have been shown to cause cancer! Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and what you apply on it can be absorbed into the blood-stream within minutes, which is why our products contain no extra fillers that can cause harm to your body, and ALL of our soaps contain 0% palm and mineral oils. We use ingredients that are provided by nature, to create safe, natural, and effective skin and hair care products. Using infusions mostly made up of quality essentials oils, herbs, and various natural ingredients, we provide you with a Caribbean escape no matter where you are!
Bleu Hairouna was created in 2013 by Shanda Harris. She is product of a West Indian parentage but born and raised in the United States. What started out as a desire to be frugal turned into a passion for knowledge. In 2008-09, Shanda had taken an interest in Aromatherapy and Herbalism, while attending the Anthem Insitute for Massage Therapy. The search for alternatives for natural skin and hair care led her to experiment with many different products; she noticed that once she stopped using commercial bath and body products, her skin and hair would suffer. This revelation brought her to the realization that not every label claiming to be "natural" is 100% natural. Growing up in a West Indian household had its advantages; taking the lessons that she learned from her parents, in regards to skin care, she applied them to her personal skincare regimen. As people began to inquire about the change to her hair and skin, she made the decision to share her knowledge with the world. What started out as a hobby turned into a business, and her local reputation began to grow. Shanda has now brought her version of the Caribbean to you, in the form of soaps and other body products.
